Bethany Hughes, the designer behind Blue Coppice, has stitched, drawn and made ‘things’ since she was a very small child. No egg box, piece of string or pot of glue was safe…and still isn’t. Her quirky, whimsical counted cross-stitch and embroidery designs are inspired by the beautiful English countryside, stately homes, historic textiles, a lifetime spent in art galleries and museums, and degrees in landscape architecture and classical studies. Following local success at the Coventry and Rugby Open Art Exhibitions in 2023, Bethany’s ‘Medusae Miscellanea’ piece was selected for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2024 and was on show at the RA’s beautiful Burlington House from 18 June-18 August 2024.
